What's happening on the ground
Five temples in the Pattaya area are now documented in the archive — from Pratamnak Hill to Chopstick Hill, from the oldest sites in Bang Lamung to the heart of the resort city. Chon Buri province has begun.
Thailand has more Buddhist temples than most countries have churches, mosques and synagogues combined. Most are undocumented. No photographs, no records, no presence online. Thai Temple Archive exists to change that — one temple at a time.
Our documentation plan starts in Bangkok and moves outward — province by province across all 77 regions of Thailand. Every temple gets its own archive entry: history, architecture, location, visiting hours. The goal is 40,000+ temples. We're just getting started.
Thai Temple Archive is now live. We've begun documenting Bangkok's temples — history, architecture, GPS coordinates and visitor information for each. Starting with the royal wats of the historic centre. Everything is free and open forever. Expeditions and photography begin in 2027.
